David G. Alger, 73, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. David was born on February 23, 1938 the son of Floyd and Rachel (Hanson) Alger in Bemidji, Minnesota. He was raised in Bismarck, North Dakota and as a young man, David enlisted in the United States Navy. During his time of service, he served on the USS Yorktown. After his return from the military he worked various jobs. David was united in marriage to Ginger Hoff on October 4, 1967 in California. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1978 and David began working for Gabor Trucking. He continued to work for Gabor Trucking for several years until he purchased his own semi. David operated his trucking business until his health forced him to retire. David enjoyed reading, mechanic work, fishing and NASCAR Racing. Davidchr(39)s greatest enjoyment came from his family and especially his grandchildren. David is survived by his wife, Ginger Alger of Detroit Lakes, MN; one daughter, Stephanie (Kent Johnson) Alger of Monticello, MN; two sons, Dion (Anna) Alger of Audubon, MN and Carey (Traci) Alger of Frazee, MN; five grandchildren, Taylor, Brett, Carson, Tanner, Wyatt Alger and one on the way; one brother, Richard (Bernie) Alger of Austin, MN; one sister, Marion (Ed) Volk of Huntington Beach, CA. David was preceded in death by his parents and one infant son, Darin.
