Donald E. Edwards age 77 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Friday February 24, 2012 at Essentia Health "? St. Marychr(39)s Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN. Donald Eugene Edwards was born on June 15, 1934 in rural Detroit Lakes, MN to Sidney and Elizabeth Nunn Edwards. He grew up and attended country school in the Cotton Lake area of rural Detroit Lakes. He then attended Frazee High School. He worked as a carpenter with his father. They moved to Seattle, Washington to build homes, and later moved to California. On May 23, 1954 he was united in marriage to Lorelei Baumann in Long Beach, California. They made their home in Long Beach until moving back to Detroit Lakes in 1959. Over the years Don worked at Grover Tire, Viking Feed, and Tessman and Son Garbage Service in Detroit Lakes. He later worked as a Mink Rancher. Don enjoyed hunting, and spending winters in Texas. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, teasing and telling stories. Don is survived by his wife, Lorelei, two sons, Donald (Nancy) Edwards, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Dennis Edwards, of Detroit Lakes, MN; four daughters, Robbin (Bob) Tjepkes, of Little Rock, Iowa; Ronda Erickson, of Rochert, MN; Karen Stroud, of Morristown, TN; and Kathy (Randy) Jorschumb, of Audubon, MN; eighteen grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Sharon (Gene) Hill, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Mary (Chuck) Drake, of Fargo, ND. Don was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Patty Jager; and three sisters.
