Delores "Lolly" M. Onstad, 80, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Sunday, March 25, 2012at Essentia Health, Fargo, North Dakota. Lolly was born on January 27, 1932, the daughter of Oscar and Alma (Lunde) Peterson in Erskine, Minnesota. She graduated from Erskine High School in 1949. Lolly was united in marriage to Donald Onstad on March 31, 1951 in Fridley, Minnesota. They made their home in Minneapolis, until moving to Detroit Lakes in 1970. Together, they owned and operated the Broken Wheel Supper Club for a few years before starting Lakes Motors. Lolly also worked as a real estate agent for many years in the Detroit Lakes area. Additionally she helped her husband, Don with their car dealership, until they retired in 1998. Lolly was a master in the kitchen; whether it was a new recipe or an old one, she always made sure it was made to everyonechr(39)s liking. It was her great joy to create a delicious meal and to have everyone come and enjoy it. She also loved to garden and to spend time with her family and grandchildren. Lolly is survived by her husband of sixty years, Don Onstad of Detroit Lakes, MN; two daughters, Deborah Wood of Grand Rapids, MN; Susan (Patrick) Samuelson of Norwood/Young America, MN; one son, P.K. (Sandra) Onstad of Detroit Lakes, MN; six grandchildren, Amanda (Andy) MacDonell, Justin (Ann) Wood, Johanna (Sean Dawson) Samuelson, Nicolette Samuelson, Matthew and Michael Onstad; four great-grandchildren, Cydney Wood, Isabella and Jamison Wood, Beau Dawson; one sister, Ardy LeBlanc of Minneapolis, numerous nieces and nephews. Lolly was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Orville Peterson and a sister, LaVerne Eraker.
