Ernest M. Olson Jr.

Ernest M. Olson, Jr. 63,of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Golden Manor under the care of hospice of the Red River Valley. Ernest was born on August 18, 1948 the son of Ernest and Audrey (Craft) Olson, Sr. in Perham, Minnesota. He was raised and educated in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Ernest was united in marriage to Roberta Westlund on January 12, 1974 at Lake Park, Minnesota. He was a self-employed truck driver for thirty plus years. Ernest enjoyed fishing, boating and bonfires. He was also an avid sports fan of all Minnesota teams, especially the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Ernest was a loving father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Ernest is survived by his three children, Jeff Olson of New Salem, ND; Carly (Tim) Mesjak of Woodland, WA; Josh (Heather) Olson of Fargo, ND; two grandchildren, Micayla and Briar Olson; five sisters, Sharon (Bernie) Anderson; Marlys (Jerry) Ortlepp; Maxine Spicer; Ella Mae (Bruce) Frank; Patty (Bob) Sanaker; two brothers, Rick (Brenda) Olson and Mike (Rachel) Olson; numerous nieces and nephews. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Olson and Rebecca Swinson.
