Jay A. Moses age 81 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Tuesday April 17, 2012 at his residence. Jay Arlen Moses was born on September 29, 1930 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Jay and Marie Larson Moses. He grew up and attended country school in rural Pelican Rapids. He graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1948. He served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Eidenschink on June 29, 1954 in Detroit Lakes, MN. They lived in Virginia for two years before moving to Detroit Lakes in 1956. Jay worked as a plumber for Lakes Plumbing and Heating and later worked as a union plumber for over thirty years, retiring in 1992. Jay enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing cards, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed the Vikings, and Twins. He enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in their many activities. His time spent with his family at Loon Lake was also very special to him. Jay was a lifetime member of the VFW, and was active for several years in the Eagles. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Jay is survived by his wife Lorraine; four daughters, Joan Moses, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Kathy (Rob) Bope, of Ottertail, MN; Sue (Danielle) Moses, of Mpls, MN; and Julie (Ken) Mattson, of Grand Forks, ND; one son, Tom (Brenda) Moses, of Jackson, MN; five grandchildren, Kristi (Dave) Olson, Chad Moses, Abby Moses, Jacob Mattson, and Teresa Mattson; two step grandchildren, Bryan Bope and Nick (Carrie) Bope; and one brother, Jerald Moses, of Chicago, IL. Jay is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeffrey Moses ( 9 months); and four brothers, Virgil, Duane, Keith, and Gene Moses.
