Glenn H. Donley

d. April 23, 2012

Glenn H. Donley, 82, rural Callaway, Minnesota, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and his loving family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Glenn was born on July 6, 1929, the son of Harry and Emma (Hellickson) Donleyin Riceville Township of rural Becker County, Minnesota. He was raised and educated in Waubun, graduating from Waubun High School in 1948. As a young man he moved to Great Falls, Montana, where Glenn worked various jobs. He was united in marriage to Barbara Jirava on November 26, 1960 in Ogema Congregational Church, Ogema, Minnesota. They made their home in rural Callaway, where Glenn operated his cattle ranch and farmed. During his time raising cattle, he even was able to top the cattle market in Sisseton, South Dakota. Glenn was able to strike up a conversation with anyone he crossed paths with and by the end of the conversation they would leave as friends. He had a great sense of humor and a one liner for everything. Glenn lived everyday to the fullest and was always more concerned about others then himself. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith, and had a very strong spiritual faith in GOD. Glenn enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, fishing, dancing, snowmobiling and his dog, Ringo. His greatest enjoyment in life was his family and his friends. He will be dearly missed by all. Glenn is survived by his wife, Barbara Donley of rural, Callaway, MN; three daughters, Darla (Marvin Sr.) Vareberg of Detroit Lakes, MN; Kristi Jo (Dean) DuChene of Detroit Lakes, MN; Andrea (Jim) Lamb of Iron, MN; five grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Willison, Travis Lanoue, Nathan, Hunter and Kassandra DuChene; one brother, Lyle Donley of Ogema, MN ; one sister-in-law, Edith Donley of Detroit Lakes, MN; special nephew, Harry Donley of Ogema, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.
