James D. Ross

James D. Ross age 71 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. James Duane Ross was born on October 25, 1940 in Perham, MN to Raymond and Gladyce Andersen. He grew up in rural Vergas, MN and attended District 166 country school. He served in the United States Navy from 1962 "? 1965. On February 14, 1966 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Loerzel in Dent, MN. They farmed near Dent until 1973, when they moved to Detroit Lakes. Jim worked as a union crane operator for over 30 years, building bridges in Minnesota and North Dakota. Jim was a member of the Local 49ers. He enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren, and having coffee with his friends. He also enjoyed bird watching, and game shows on T.V. He is survived by one son, Craig (Laura) Ross, of Shreveport, LA; two daughters, Kris (Prince) Odagwe, of Brooklyn Center, MN; and Shawna (Scott) Vareberg, of Audubon, MN; Eight Grandchildren; Hailey, Dain, and Kiersten Ross; Jordyn and Trae Odagwe; Miranda, Gregery, and Samantha Vareberg; and one brother, Jerry (Pam) Ross, of Detroit Lakes, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn (1989); and his parents.
