May L. Jahr, former Detroit Lakes and Thief River Falls resident May Jahr, 87, of Erskine, Minn., passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. May Lois Lee was born to Emma (Arndt) Lee and Albert Lee on May 22, 1924 in Cuba Township, Becker County. She was united in marriage to Vernon A. Jahr on June 15, 1942 in Berkley, Mich. May and Vernon made their home in Thief River Falls for over 30 years. She was a championship golfer, bowler and curler as well as enjoying sports as a spectator. She spent most of her summers entertaining all her grandkids with fishing and water sports. She followed the TRF hockey teams for her grandsons, girlschr(39) volleyball team for her granddaughter and again hockey for her great granddaughter. Being a firm believer in equal opportunity, May was thrilled that girls were progressing in sports. In her later years she was an avid card and bingo player enjoying the competition in Detroit Lakes. After retirement in 1984, she and Vernon lived on Lake Cormorant near Detroit Lakes, and spent winters in Las Vegas, Nev. Surviving May are her children, Richard (Kathie) Jahr of Plymouth, Minn., Sherry Jahr Solheim of Thief River Falls, Danny (Jeri) Jahr of Osceola, Wis., and David (Karen) Jahr of Big Rock, Ill; five grandchildren, Reime Jahr, Sara (Steve) Kelley, Steven (Val) Solheim, Chris Solheim and Leigh Ann (Craig) Kennedy; many great grandchildren; and three siblings, Norma Lee Aune, Albert (Clint) Lee and William Lee. Nieces and nephews also survive her. Preceding May in death were her parents and nine siblings, Alvin Lee, Dorothy Lee Buck, Arnold Lee, Edward Lee, Robert Lee, Alfred Lee, Ivy Lee Knutson, Evelyn Lee Solum and Florence Lee Severtson.
