Shirley Steinhaus

Shirley M. Steinhaus age 84 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Saturday June 30, 2012 at her residence. Shirley Mae Steinhaus was born on March 20, 1928 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Thurman and Huldah Hanson Wetteland. She grew up and received her education in Audubon, MN, graduating from Audubon High School in 1946. On September 10, 1949 she was united in marriage to Lorren Steinhaus in Audubon, MN. They made their home in Detroit Lakes, where they raised their four children. Shirley was a gentle, patient woman. Being with family was very important to her. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed hosting and entertaining on holidays, with Christmas time being her favorite. Other things that she enjoyed were dancing with Lorren and living at the lake. Shirley was active at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, and was also active in her childrenchr(39)s many activities, including Cub Scouts and 4-H. She is survived by two sons, Mark (Ron Greenstone) Steinhaus, of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; and John (Denise) Steinhaus, of Detroit Lakes, MN; two daughters, Susan (Linden) Boyd, of Moorhead, MN; and Sara (George) Patelidas, of St. Simons Island, GA; three grandchildren, Preston Boyd, of New York, NY, Haley Boyd, of New York, NY; and George (Nikos) Patelidas III, of St. Simons Island, GA; one brother, Thurman (Vaida) Wetteland, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one brother in law, Herman Meier, of Sioux Falls, SD; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorren (1/8/98); her parents; and two sisters, Elizabeth Utke, and Jean Meier.
