Dustin B. Birky

Dustin Bradley Birky, 23, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Saturday, July 7, 2012 at their Bad Medicine family lake cabin, Minnesota. Dustin was born on October 9, 1988, the son of Bradley Birky and Karla Schultz in Park Rapids, Minnesota. He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 2007. Dustin worked with his father as a carpenter at Birky Construction. Recently, on June 9, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, Dustin was united in marriage to Desiree Gigstead. They made their home in rural Detroit Lakes. Dustin had a very strong faith. He played recreational sports with friends and family. Dustin enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling and hunting. He excelled as an avid bow hunter. Dustin truly enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends, especially his time with his parents, brother and sisters. Dustin is survived by his wife, Desiree Birky of Detroit Lakes, MN; his mother, Karla Schultz of Detroit Lakes, MN; father, Bradley (Tammy) Birky of Frazee, MN; four sisters, Kandice Birky of Detroit Lakes, MN; Lexi Fagerlie of Frazee, MN; Hailey and Cortney Birky of Frazee, MN; brother, Braden Birky of Frazee; paternal grandfather, Stanley Birky of Detroit Lakes, MN; maternal grandparents, Richard and Virginia Schultz of Isle, MN; great-grandfather, Glen Birky of Detroit Lakes, MN; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dane and Diane Gigstead of Frazee, MN; brother-in-law, Dustin Gigstead of Frazee, MN; niece and nephew, Axton and Akaiya Birky and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dustin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Shirley Birky and great-grandmother, Erma Birky.
