Caroline H. Remmen age 90 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Sept. 13, 2012 at Essentia Health-Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN. Caroline Henrietta Remmen was born on October 10, 1921 in Sioux City, Iowa to Charles and Dora Krause Johnson. As a small child her family resided in Dakota City, Nebraska until moving to the Callaway, MN area to farm in 1923. In 1943 she moved with her family to Detroit Lakes. On May 15, 1947 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Remmen in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in Detroit Lakes where Caroline worked at Swiftchr(39)s for many years. Caroline taught Sunday School and Bible School at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes for numerous years. She was also a Youth Firearms Safety Instructor as well as an Assistant Campfire Leader. She enjoyed being at the lake, fishing, camping, and attending her grandchildrenchr(39)s events and ball games. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Roger) Mason, of Rochert, MN; three grandchildren, Jon (Heather) Olson, of Perham, MN; Tim Olson, of Helena, MT; and Carrie (Brandon) Grindall, of Waterville, MN; one great grandson, Bryce Olson; one sister Wilma Leitheiser, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth (2001); her parents; an infant daughter, Mary Ann; and one sister, Bernice Amundson.
