Betty M. Schram age 87 of Detroit Lakes, MN died October 4, 2012 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Betty Marie Schram was born on June 10, 1925 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Martin and Jennie Johnston Sandberg. The family moved to Westbury, MN where Betty grew up and attended school. They later moved to Detroit Lakes and Betty graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1942. She then attended Moorhead State Teachers College where she received a teaching degree. Over the years she taught school in Lake Park, Pelican Rapids, and Odessa, MN. On June 18, 1949 she was united in marriage to Robert L. Schram in Kent, MN. They made their home and raised their children in Detroit Lakes. Betty was very active at Zion Lutheran Church. She sang in the church choir for over 40 years. She instilled a strong faith, good moral values, and a great love of music in her children. Family was very important to her. She always made sure that family occasions such as birthdays were celebrated in a special way. She loved to cook, bake and sew. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildrenchr(39)s many activities and sporting events. She was a very kind, patient and thoughtful person who always put others before herself. She is survived by one son, Richard (Lynn) Schram, of Detroit Lakes, MN; four daughters, Julie (Jim) Peters, of Perham, MN; Nancy (Lee) Brekke, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Lou Ann (Dave) Henderson, of Woodbury, MN; and Bonnie (Rich) Seebold, of Detroit Lakes, MN; sixteen grandchildren, Aaron (Holly) Schram, Jason (Paige) Schram, Nathan Schram, Ryan Schram, Elizabeth (Eric) Schaefer, Caroline Engel, Alison Engel, Rob Brekke, Ethan Brekke, Isabelle Henderson, Lila Henderson, Chase Halvorson, Jacob Seebold, Brianna Seebold, Emily Seebold, and Trey Seebold; four great grandchildren, Sadie Schram, Laney Schram, Carter Brekke, and Owen Schram; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (3/29/11); her parents; two brothers, Martin and Ellsworth Sandberg; and two sisters, Marian Amundson and Marjorie Brusven.
