Lena B. Pope, 94, Detroit Lakes, MN died Friday, October 12, 2012 at Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, MN. Lena was born on July 18, 1918 the daughter of Andrew and Caroline (Palmer) Sprague in Tulare, South Dakota. She was united in marriage to David Pope on November 12, 1936 in Appleton, Minnesota. They made their home in Lyon County of Southwestern Minnesota, where they raised their family. In 1948, they moved to Frazee and then to Waubun in 1975. Following the death of David, Lena moved to Detroit Lakes. She has resided at Oak Crossing the past two years. Lena enjoyed arts and crafts. She was known for her needlework, quilting and painting. Lena also enjoyed to cook, bake and trying new recipes. She enjoyed and appreciated the residents and staff at Oak crossing. Lena is survived by her daughter, Willma (Jerry) Hanson of Frazee, MN; two sons, Jim (Judie) Pope of Detroit Lakes, MN; Jerry (Marion) Pope of Mena, AR; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David (1980), sister, Bernice Mills, two brothers, Bennie and Bernard Sprague.
