William V. Litzau, 57, rural Park Rapids, Minnesota, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at St. Paul Regions Hospital, St. Paul, Minnesota. Bill was born on July 20, 1955, the son of John and Esther (Zurn) Litzau in Park Rapids, Minnesota . He was raised and educated in the Menahga area. Bill was united in marriage to Wanda Pickett on December 7, 1974 at Richwood Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. They made their home in Detroit Lakes before returning to the Park Rapids area in 1989. Bill had a diverse career in working with all the elements of wood. Whether it was planting or logging trees, working in the Osage sawmill, remodeling or building homes or even building a beautiful piece of furniture. For the last few years, Bill worked for Custom Crushing and Recycling Inc. Bill will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, being a conversationalist and a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid reader of western novels or just reading anything, Bill could get his hands on. Bill loved to hunt, fish, travel and four wheeling. Bill is survived by his wife, Wanda Litzau of rural Park Rapids, MN; son, John Litzau of Frazee, MN; daughter, Mandie (Dan) Johnson of Pelican Rapids, MN; five grandchildren, Alexis, Brendon, Abagail, Benjamin and Zoey; one brother, Nick (Marlene) Litzau of Dorset, MN; three sisters, Helen (Larry) Newman of Nevis, MN; Cindy (Steve) Bassarear of Cedar Falls, UT; Jenny (Chris Andersen) Dumont of Vining, MN; mother-in-law, Virginia Olund of Frazee, Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Grace; three sisters, Carole Sterle, Ann Pickett and Linda Danks.
