Aaron C. Bengtson age 93 of Concord, CA, formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN died Monday October 29, 2012 at his residence. Aaron Chester Bengtson was born June 3, 1919 in Lake Park, MN to John and Emily Kittelson Bengtson. He graduated from Lake Park High School, and in 1941 was united in marriage to Eva T. Fingalson. Aaron entered the United States Army during WWII, serving in the South Pacific from Australia through New Guinea, and the Philippines. Following his discharge they made their home in Moorhead, MN where he worked as a milkman for the Fairmont Creamery. He was later transferred to Detroit Lakes where he ran a retail milk route. He then owned and operated the Northside Skelly Cafe in Detroit Lakes and later taught cooking and baking at the Detroit Lakes Vocational and Technical College until his retirement. In 1997 he was united in marriage to Joyce Holcomb. They lived in Detroit Lakes during the summer and spent winters in CA. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Concord, CA; one son, Roger (Bonnie) Bengtson, of Newman Lake, WA; two daughters, Bonita (Gary) Jacobson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Roxanne (Ronald) Raymond, of Williston, ND; fifteen grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; one great great grandson; one step son, Gary (Nancy) Holcomb, of Yuba City, CA; three step daughters, DeLayne (Bill) Capshaw, of Pleasant Hill, CA; Kathy (Scott) Darrow, of Concord, CA; and Myra Holcomb, of Concord, CA; seven step grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Eva; an infant brother; three sisters, Adeline DeGroat, Margaret Harvala, and Jeanette Neubauer; two great grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Kristi Gates; and his parents.
