Edith Henrietta Kuhlemeyer, 93, of rural Vergas, Minnesota, died October 31, 2012 at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Edith was born on March 27, 1919, the daughter of James and Ida (Knibbe) Gabrielson in Anoka, Minnesota. She attended school in Elk River, Minnesota until eleventh grade, when her family moved to Pillager, Minnesota. Edith graduated from Pillager High School in 1936 and then attended Minneapolis Business College, graduating in 1939 with a degree in accounting. She was employed as an accountant for Archer-Daniels-Midland Company in Minneapolis for nine years. Edith was united in marriage to Earl Kuhlemeyer on February 27, 1949 in Lake Park, Minnesota. The next month they moved to Candor Township, near Vergas to take over the Kuhlemeyer family farm. Earl died in August of 2010. They were married for sixty-one years. Edith was a member of the Vergas United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. She loved her family, homemaking, reading and taking trips with Earl to parts of the United States. Her many hours of gardening were treasured times that she filled with prayer. Edith is survived by her two sons, Neil (Dolores) Kuhlemeyer of Vergas, MN; Arden (Deb) Kuhlemeyer of Pelican Rapids, MN; one daughter, Joyce (Steve) Wagner of Fargo, ND and daughter-in-law, Robin (Kevin Kosiak) Kuhlemeyer of Vergas, MN; eight grandchildren, Jennifer and Emery Kuhlemeyer, Clayton and Robert Kuhlemeyer, Jessica and Danielle Kuhlemeyer, Laura and Justin Wagner; two step-grandchildren, Amy and Brian Berseth; brother, Arthur Gabrielson of Turlock, CA; sister-in-law, Mildred Sullivan of Baxter, MN; several nieces and nephews. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl, sister, Lillian Agre and brother, Albert James Gabrielson.
