Denise Kay Vargason, 49, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Denise was born on August 22, 1963 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Merle Fairbanks. As a young child, she moved with her family to Callaway, Minnesota. Denise graduated from Waubun High School in 1981. She later attended NCTC in Thief River Falls, Minnesota and studied Early Childhood Education. Following her schooling, she worked for the Shooting Star Casino and White Earth RTC Child Facilities in Mahnomen, MN for over thirteen years. Denisechr(39)s passions in life were her kids and grandchildren. Anyone that knew her, knows that her pets were also her children. Denise is survived by her mother, Merle Fairbanks of Frazee, MN; four children, Ashlee Fairbanks-Vargason, Andrew Vargason, Danielle (Ron) Vargason and Cody (Cassie) Vargason all of Detroit Lakes, MN;three grandchildren, Daunte Leslie, Cailin Vargason and Kchr(39)Dynce Vargason; one brother, Clay (Toni) Fairbanks of Ogema, MN; four nieces and nephews, Kelly (Rick) Olson of Jamestown, ND; Joshua (Crystal) Fairbanks of Fargo, ND; Matthew Fairbanks of Ogema, MN and Megan Fairbanks of Ogema, MN; two great nieces, Cambria and Hailey Fairbanks of Fargo, ND. Denise was preceded in death by her grandparents, Andrew and Ruth Mortenson.
