Gertrude A. Glawe

Gertrude Ann Glawe, 88, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, departed earthly life to her heavenly home on November 13, 2012 at Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Gertrude was born on November 18, 1923 in Candor Township to Emil and Erna (Zitzow) Rosentreter. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paulchr(39)s Lutheran Church in rural Vergas. Gertrude attended Dora Township School and worked as a nanny in Bowling Green, Ohio. Upon returning home to Minnesota, she married Norman Glawe on July 15, 1945. Gertrude and her husband, Norman lived their entire lives in Becker County. They owned and operated Clearview Dairy Farm with their two sons. They were lifelong members of Zion Lutheran Church, where Gertrude actively volunteered her time, was a member of the Guild Singers, Mary Guild and the Lutheran Womenchr(39)s Missionary League (LWML). Gertrude loved farm life, being outdoors with nature, bird watching and flower gardening. Gertrude is survived by two daughters, Donna (Tim) Scanlan of Springdale, AR; Mary Ann (John) Hardy of The Colony, TX; two sons, David Glawe and Mark (Julie) Glawe both of Detroit Lakes, MN; four grandchildren, Jonathan (Holly) Hardy, Jennifer Hardy, Daniel Glawe and Ashley Glawe; one great-grandchild, Ezekiel Glawe. Gertrude is also survived by one sister, Betty Glawe of Vergas, MN; two brothers, Ben (Lois) Rosentreter of Lindstrom, MN; Melvin (Donna) Rosentreter of Vergas, MN; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Rosentreter and Charlotte Beuhler both of Detroit Lakes, MN; one brother-in-law, Alvin (Joan) Glawe of Vergas, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norman, four sisters and two brothers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests, memorials in honor of Gertrude, be given to Oak Crossing Nursing Home Family Council (1040 Lincoln Ave. Detroit Lakes, MN 56501) or Hospice of the Red River Valley (1102 W. River Rd. Detroit Lakes, MN 56501).
