Orville E. Dahlsad, 88, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Sanford Health, Fargo, North Dakota. Orville was born on January 14, 1924, the son of Claus and Evangeline (Bjerke) Dahlsad in Georgetown, Minnesota. He attended country school and graduated from Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, Minnesota in 1942. He served in the United States Army and was honorable discharged in 1946. Orville was united in marriage to Doris Dunham on November 13, 1948 in Hawley, Minnesota. He farmed in the Borup area for thirty years and retired from farming in the fall of 1979 due to health reasons. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1986. During his retirement years, Orville and Doris enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Arizona and Texas. He enjoyed making tractors out of pop cans, fishing and dancing, especially to polkas and waltzes. Orville was known for his handyman skills and having a great sense of humor. Orville is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Doris Dahlsad of Detroit Lakes, MN; daughter, Geraldine (Keith) Berg of The Villages, FL; two sons, Milton (Valerie) Dahlsad of Ada, MN; Ronnie Dahlsad of Detroit Lakes, MN; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Vernon (Gladys) Dahlsad; Emmanuel (Gladys) Dahlsad; Herbert (Irene) Dahlsad all of Moorhead, MN; brother-in-law, Dennis Thorsen of Twin Valley, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Orville was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law, Dee Ann Dahlsad; brother, Clifford and sister, Violet Thorsen.
