Duane H. Cogger, 76, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at his home. Duane was born on August 24, 1936, the son of Edward and Bertha (Leu) Cogger in Teletrachie, Mississippi. He was raised in Richwood, Minnesota. Duane served in the United States Army from 1954 - 1957. He was united in marriage to Lillie Barry on December 10, 1957 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. As a young man he worked for Bower Tree Service in Mora, Minnesota. Duane, later became a heavy equipment operator, working for Soby Construction in Fergus Falls for a few years and spent most of his career with Sellin Bros. in Hawley until his retirement in 1996. Duane was known for his ability to build beautiful Totem Poles. He enjoyed stock car racing, collecting old cars, going to the casino, visiting and having a cup of coffee with old friends. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting in Montana, South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming, and Alaska. Duane also traveled to various states during his retirement years. Duane is survived by his two daughters, Jill (Brian) Andring of Detroit Lakes, MN; Kelly Schlauderaff of Audubon, MN; five grandchildren, Krysta (Jean-Paul) Lipton, Kara and Thomas Andring, Jessica and Matthew Schlauderaff; six sisters, Norma "Jean" Bakka of Ogema, MN; Donna Stowman of Tempe, AZ; Joan (Gary) Nichols of St. Paul, MN; Shirley (Alfred) Johnson of Callaway, MN; Patricia (Terry) Lindsay of Auburn, WA; Marilynn Sue (Dan) Holt of Detroit Lakes, MN; two brothers, Monty (Karen) Cogger of Sartell, MN; Rick (Julie) Cogger of Callaway, MN; sister-in-law, Sarah Odegaard of Lake Park, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lillie (1997), brother, Edward Cogger, three brothers-in-law, Clem Bakka, Jack LeVan and David Odegaard.
