Arnold R. Hoseth, Jr. 87, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Oak Crossing - Essentia Health, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Arnie was born on January 10, 1926, the son of Arnold and Harriet (Korsgarden) Hoseth Sr. in Crookston, Minnesota. He attended Banner Country School until the eighth grade, and then attended high school in Twin Valley, Minnesota graduating in 1943. He worked on the family farm with his father until his marriage to Erma Nelson on June 20, 1947 in Bagley, Minnesota. They made their home in Detroit Lakes, where Arnie worked for the Big 5 Co-Op and his career in plumbing started. In 1950, he started Lakes Plumbing and Heating. Arnie continued to own and operated the company until 1980, when he sold the business. After a few years, he started Hoseth Plumbing and continued to work until his retirement in 1994. During his retirement years, Arnie and Erma enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, especially their trip to Alaska on their 50th Wedding Anniversary. It was Arnie's life long dream to travel to Australia. He realized that dream when he and Erma took a trip to New Zealand and Australia. They also spent several winters in Fort Myers, Florida where Arnie enjoyed the beach and watching the Minnesota Twins during spring training. He loved working with his tools, enjoyed doing yard work, hunting and riding his tractors at their lake home on Pickeral Lake. Arnie was a man of strong faith and enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. Arnie spent the last three years at Oak Crossing, where he developed a special bond with the staff. He will be remembered for his cheerful smile and his quick witted sense of humor, with very few words. Arnie is survived by his wife, Erma Hoseth of Detroit Lakes, MN; brother, Sherman (Jeannine) Hoseth of Twin Valley, MN; several nieces and nephews. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents.
