Alice Mary Waldon, 84, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Perham Living, Perham, Minnesota. Alice was born on January 21, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Amelia (Walter) Waldon Sr. in Guthrie, Minnesota. As a young child, Alice moved with her family to Detroit Lakes. After graduating from Detroit Lakes High School, she attended Hamline University for one year. Alice then went on to St. Barnabas School of Nursing in Minneapolis to receive her nursing degree. Upon completion of her schooling, she moved to Los Angeles, California and began her career at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Alice worked her entire nursing career at the medical center in Los Angeles, retiring as head surgical nurse. She returned to Detroit Lakes shortly after her retirement, to be closer to family. Even after her retirement, she kept her nursing license until the age of 82. Being a nurse was something Alice truly loved. She shared her compassion and care with so many people throughout her career and life. Alice was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. Alice is survived by her brother, Arthur (Evelyn) Waldon Jr. of Andover, MN; nieces and nephews, Cheryl (Ron) Wade, Linda (Bill) Steinke, Nancy Johnson, Pat (John) Kropp, Jim Waldon and Rob (Cindy) Waldon; great and great-great nieces and nephews; special friend, Jerome (Denise) Tappe of Frazee, MN. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Major General Edward Waldon, sister-in-law, Doris Waldon and niece, Gail Eidenschink.
