Arleen A. Hanson age 85 of Detroit Lakes, MN died July 11, 2013 at Essentia Health - St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes. Arleen Annetta Hanson was born on July 19, 1927 in Mayville, ND to George and Alma Tollefsrud Braaten. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from Mayville High School. She then attended the Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND and worked for a period of time at Bell Telephone in Fargo, ND. On April 8, 1950 she was united in marriage to Duane Hanson in Mayville, ND. At that time they moved from Fargo and started a Dairy and Grain Farm together north of Detroit Lakes. They have lived there for the last 63 years. Arleen was an active member of Richwood Lutheran Church - teaching Sunday School and working with the ladies groups. As a mother of seven children she was active in the Richwood Red Peppers 4H Club as one of the leaders. Being a member of TOPS was a very important part of her life. She cherished her friends that she made with that group. Arleen was a very kind and giving person and will be missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Duane; four sons, Dan Hanson, of Moorhead, MN; Dwight Hanson, of Audubon, MN; Brad (Leah) Hanson, of Audubon, MN; and Brian (Lisa) Hanson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; two daughters, Sharlene (Kevin) Mattson, of Kindred, ND; and Sheila (Gordon) Olson, of Fredericksburg, VA; twelve grandchildren, Derek (Summer) Hanson, Danelle Hanson, Dustin (Andrea) Hanson, Sheena (Zack) Bateson, Jeremiah Mattson, Theta (Michael) Carnahan, Chris (Kayla) Hanson, Catrina (Richard) Monroe, Eric Hanson, Miata Olson, Korey Hanson, and Christian Hanson; five great grandchildren, Anna, Avva, Tyler, and Arra Hanson, and Isaac Bateson; and one sister Ruthie Farm, of Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her son Gary "Chester" Hanson; her parents; daughter in law, Debbie Hanson; and one brother, Aldus Braaten.
