JoAnn C. Brown age 80 of Detroit Lakes, MN died August 18, 2013 at Essentia Health - Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. JoAnn Brown was born March 1, 1933 in Ada, MN to Gunnard and Carla Hoeglund Rasmussen. She grew up and attended school in the Ada and Twin Valley area. The family later moved to Detroit Lakes, where JoAnn graduated from High School in 1951. On December 28, 1952 she was united in marriage to Gene E. Brown in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in West Fargo, ND for a short time before moving to Detroit Lakes in 1954. JoAnn was involved with her husband in his trucking business. She helped with the books and also enjoyed traveling with him from time to time. She was also very active at First Lutheran Church at one time, teaching Sunday School and serving on the Altar Guild. She was involved with her children in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She loved animals, flower gardening, quilting, and sewing. JoAnn is survived by one son, Michael (Barbara) Brown, of Detroit Lakes, MN; two daughters, Connie (William) Stallman, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Karen (Craig) Andrews, of Alexandria, MN; five grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Johnson, Ryan Stallman, Shannon Brown, Alyssa (Aaron) Stern, and Bryan Andrews; three great granddaughters, Jordyn Johnson, Avery Johnson, and Kennedy Stern. JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Gene (2005); one son, Daniel; and her parents.
