Norman Edward Peters

Norman E. Peters, 73, Rochert, Minnesota, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at St. Mary's- Essentia Health, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Norman was born on June 19, 1940, the son of Ervin and Muriel (Graham) Peters in Park Rapids, Minnesota. He graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1959. Norman enlisted in the United States Army in 1961 and served until receiving an honorable discharge in 1963. He was united in marriage to Dianne Gottsman on May 30, 1964. They made their home in Brainerd, Minnesota for a short time before moving to Detroit Lakes. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church on January 21, 1966. Norman worked at Englund's Furniture and Detroit Lakes Paint and Glass. In 1971, he started Peters Carpet Service, which Norman continued to own and operate until the time of his death. Norman had a strong work ethic and took great pride in the work he provided to his customers. Norman was a loving husband and father. He cherished his time with his grandchildren and the family gatherings at their home every summer. Norman enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Norman is survived by his wife, Dianne Peters of Rochert, MN; three daughters, Julie (Kerry) Johnson of St. Joseph, MN; Janet (Ted) Donald of San Diego, CA; Jennifer (TeeJay) Stevens of Ulen, MN; nine grandchildren, Brandon (Tasha West) and Jordon Johnson, Chaz and Justin Donald, Garret, Westin and Gabi Munson, Austin and Kylie Stevens; two brothers, James (Carol) Peters of Gilbert, MN; Ronald (Sandra) Peters of Maricopa, AZ. Norman is also survived by numerous special in-laws, nieces and nephews and David Munson . Norman was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Peters. Norm was welcomed into heaven by his fishing buddies Gary and Jim.
