Betty Jane Klomstad

Betty J. Klomstad age 90 of Detroit Lakes, MN died October 24, 2013 at the Frazee Care Center, Frazee, MN. Betty Jane Klomstad was born May 18, 1923 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Harry and Edna Peck Britton. She grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School. She then attended Moorhead State Teachers College in Moorhead, MN, where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught school in Crookston, MN. On June 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Donald W. Klomstad in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in Minneapolis, MN. Over the years they also lived in Baltimore, MD, Brussels, Belgium, and New Canaan, CT. In 1977 they moved back to Detroit Lakes to reside on Big Floyd Lake. Betty worked as a secretary for the Benshoof Law Firm in Detroit Lakes for three years. Betty enjoyed dancing, playing cards, quilting, camping and golfing. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and entertaining at the lake. She is survived by two sons, Richard (Cleone Koester) Klomstad, of Ft. Mills, SC; and William Klomstad, of West Des Moines, IA; four grandchildren, Kristen Roulette, Derek Klomstad, Brekken Klomstad, and Britton Klomstad; two great grandchildren, William and Nicholas Roulette; one sister, Peggy (Lyle) Leegard, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and one sister in law, Doris Britton, of Detroit Lakes, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Klomstad; one brother, Donald Britton; one sister, Marjorie Leegard; and one brother in law, Jerome Leegard.
