Geline Therese Kratzke

Geline T. Kratzke age 88 of Detroit Lakes, MN died January 5, 2014 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Geline Therese Kratzke was born on March 30, 1925 in Abercrombie, North Dakota to Ole and Therese Godger Eckre. The family moved to rural Vergas, MN when Geline was 14 years old. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1943. On July 2, 1944 she was united in marriage to Rudolph E. Kratzke. They lived and raised their family on a farm in rural Vergas. Geline helped out on the farm as well as working as a cook at Perry's Place, the Pelican Rapids Bowling Alley, and Fair Hills Resort. Geline was a member of the United Methodist Church in Vergas. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, and gardening. She is survived by five daughters; Katherine Pfeiffer, of Harlingen, TX; Carol Kratzke, of Vergas, MN; Corinne (Greg) Mueller, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Connie (Peter) Lindberg, of Perham, MN; and Jeanette (Richard) Hodges, of Brownwood, TX; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; one sister in law, Delores Eckre; and one brother in law, Fred Kratzke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph "Butch" (1986); three sisters, Tena Kratzke, Elsie Kratzke, and Olga Johnson; one brother, Gordon Eckre; and her parents.
