Janice M. Hansen age 62 of Detroit Lakes, MN went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 21, 2014 at her residence. Janice Marie Nielson Hansen was born on February 21, 1951 in Norfolk, Nebraska. She attended elementary school in Norfolk before moving with her family to Alexandria, MN in 1958. She finished school in Alexandria, graduating from Alexandria High School. She then studied accounting at the Alexandria Technical College for two years. Her first bookkeeping job was with Thoenes Plumbing and Heating in Alexandria. On March 11, 1972 she was united in marriage to Jay Hansen in Alexandria, MN. They made their home on a farm near Elbow Lake, MN. Janice worked as a bookkeeper at the local Ford Implement. In 1975 they moved to a farm near Ashby, MN. It was while living there that they adopted their two children. In 1979 they moved to Alexandria, MN where they owned and operated a tractor dealership. In 1982 they moved to a farm near Clitherall, MN. Janice worked for a car and implement dealership in Battle Lake, MN. In 1990 they moved to Monticello, Wisconsin, where she helped Jay manage a dairy farm. In 1991 they moved to their current farm near Callaway, MN. Janice attended the Northwest Technical College in Detroit Lakes, where she received her degree in accounting. Janice worked for TLC in Audubon, MN as well as helping in the operation of the family farm. Janice was an avid reader. She enjoyed cooking and teaching. Over the years she taught Bible school and Sunday school, as well as home schooling her grandchildren for thirteen years. Janice is survived by her husband, Jay; one son, Jayme (Jihyun) Hansen, of Seattle, WA; one daughter, Jessica Yoon, of Clarksville, TN; six grandchildren, Cameron, Kresten, Kylan, and Coslynn Casey, and Jason and Nicole Hansen; and her mother, Lela Johansen, of Detroit Lakes, MN.
