Floyd "Shorty" Alfred Mjor, 85, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Floyd was born on December 5, 1928, the youngest child of Gustav and Lena (Johnson-Wick) Mjor in Hitterdal, Minnesota. He was raised and educated in Hitterdal. Floyd was united in marriage to Lorna Stoll on August 4, 1951 in Moorhead, Minnesota. After a short time in California, they made their home near Hitterdal and Floyd worked at American Crystal Sugar Co. Floyd and Lorna then moved to Detroit Lakes, where he began his career at Swift & Co. Lorna passed away in 1982. Floyd married Lillian Amundson on March 20, 1987. He continued to work at Swift until his retirement in 1991. After Lillian passed away in 1994, Floyd continued to live at his home until moving to Pleasant View in 2004. He later moved to Oak Crossing in 2009 and resided there until his death. Floyd enjoyed dancing and fishing. He also enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Floyd spent many hours attending his grandchildren's sports activities, concerts, recitals & musicals. He will always be remembered as a soft-spoken, gentle man, with a twinkle in his eye. He will be missed by his family, friends and caretakers at Oak Crossing. Floyd is survived by his two sons, James (Billie) Mjor of Bremerton, WA; Michael (Rose) Mjor of Buffalo, ND; daughter, Kathy (Ken) Carlson of Frazee, MN; eight grandchildren, Kasey Carlson, Kaylene Carlson, James (Lindsay) Mjor, Kathryn (Seth) Horwitz, John Mjor, Mara (James) Hochstetler-Findley, Marlena (Jeff) Schmidt, Krysta (Bill) Lapcevic; twelve great-grandchildren; Ashley and Nathen Mjor; Kasey Nelson, Chris Horwitz, Abby Hochstetler, Zackary and Austin Finley, Justin, Courtney and Sierra Schmidt, Holden and Finley Hochstetler; three sisters-in-law, Ferne Mjor of Detroit Lakes, MN; Adeline Mjor of Moorhead, MN; Eldora Mjor of Bend, OR; special friends, Jon and Verla Hochstetler of Frazee, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorna, second wife, Lillian, daughter, Lori Mjor, seven brothers, Henry, Almer, Harry, Melvin, Elmer, Arthur & Dennis; five sisters, Eva Winstryg, Mabel Mjor, Manda Mjor, Ella Klemetson and Mabel Peterson. Floyd's family wishes to thank everyone for their kind condolences. They are so grateful for the loving care given to him at Oak Crossing.
