Joanne Elsie Dahlberg 71, of rural Audubon, MN, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Joanne was born on January 8, 1943 to Leslie and Millie (Moen) Midlang in Mason City, Iowa. She was raised in northern Iowa, graduating from Osage Community High School in 1960. As a young woman, Joanne moved to Omaha to attended Telegraph school. She was married to Herb Griffin in 1961 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, Iowa. They made their home in New Jersey, where Joanne worked for AT & T. After five years they returned to Osage and Joanne worked various jobs in the community. In 1992, Joanne moved to Audubon to be closer to her parents and managed the 6-11 Inn. Joanne was united in marriage to Bruce Dahlberg on October 8, 1994 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in rural Audubon. After the 6-11 Inn was sold in 1997, she retired and was able to be a housewife fulltime which she truly loved. Joanne was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and was recently considered cancer free. She was a cancer survivor, something she was extremely proud of. Joanne loved gardening, reading and living on the farm. Her greatest enjoyment was being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Joanne was survived by her husband, Bruce Dahlberg of rural Audubon, MN; son, Eric (Chris) Griffin of Ceylon, MN; daughter, Christine Orluskie of Lake Park, MN; ten grandchildren, Angel (Jesse) Bettin, Tracey (John) Bennet, Melissa (Jason) Buchan, Jessica (Jesse) Verschelde, Greg Verschelde, Tom Nelson, Sophie (Justin) Orluskie Emilee Orluskie, Lydia (Randy) Erickson and Andrew Orluskie, eighteen great-grandchildren; her father, Leslie Midlang of Lake Park, MN and a nephew, Tony Midlang of Osage, IA. Joanne was preceded in death by her mother, Millie and brother, James Midlang.
