Ruth Ann Smith

Ruth Ann Smith, 58, Moorhead, Minnesota, died June 30, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born on October 31, 1955, the daughter of Alfred and Dorothy (Hoffarth) Johnson in Breckenridge, Minnesota. She was raised and educated in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1974. Ruth worked at McLarnan and Stefanson Law office while she attended Moorhead State University. She was united in marriage to Gordon Smith on August 16, 1975 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fargo, North Dakota. They made their home in Moorhead, where she worked various jobs and the last ten years, Ruth was involved in the mortgage industry. She most recently worked as a mortgage processor for Starion Financial. Ruth enjoyed spending time at their lake home, sewing and quilting. She loved to bake and had the ability to out bake just about anybody, especially around Christmas time. Ruth's true love was her family and especially her two granddaughters. She cherished the time spent with Kya and Kallie. Ruth is survived by her husband, Gordon Smith of Moorhead, MN; son, Travis (Allison) Smith of Hawley, MN; two granddaughters, Kya and Kallie Smith; parents, Alfred and Dorothy Johnson of Moorhead, MN; siblings, Faye Johnson of Moorhead, MN; Sandra (Bob) Baxa of Hanover, MN; Roger (Sally) Johnson of Waverly, IA; Donna Grenz of Elk Grove Village, IL; Andy (Emily) Johnson of Hawley, MN; mother-in-law, Irene (Orville) Olson of Fargo, ND; numerous nieces and nephews.
