Alfred J. Honer Sr. age 71 of Detroit Lakes, MN died July 27, 2014 at his residence. Alfred Jerome Honer was born on May 29, 1943 in Perham, MN to Frank and Anna Coleman Honer. He grew up and attended country school near Dent, MN. On August 25, 1968 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Martinson. They made their home in Felton, MN, where Alfred worked for the B&B Sheep Ranch. They later moved to Thief River Falls, MN and he worked for the Peterson-Biddick Turkey Farm. They then moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, where he worked for the Swift Turkey Plant, STS Trucking, and most recently for Primera Foods of Perham, MN. Alfred retired in 2001. Alfred enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, the outdoors, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two sons, Alfred Honer Jr., of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Allan (Jessica) Honer, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one daughter, Rebecca (Nicholas) Honer, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one grandson, Andrew; four granddaughters, Stephanie Honer, Melanie Honer, and Piper and Lily Hembre; three brothers, James Honer, of Perham, MN; Lawrence (Pearl) Honer, of Breckenridge, MN; and Edward Honer, of Perham, MN; five sisters, Louise (Larry) Kempenich, of Perham, MN; Anna (Bud) Schmidt, of Hawley, MN; Ludwina Riepe, of Perham, MN; Agnes Honer, of Salem, OR; and Evelyn Thornberg, of Hankinson, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank Honer Jr. and Joseph Honer; and six sisters, Irene Asmund, Marie Thornberg Fairbanks, Luella Kempenich Staber, Rose Ziolkowski, Frances Honer, and Katherine Christianson.
