Donna L. Larsen age 87 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at her residence. Donna was born on August 16, 1927, the daughter of Edwin and Emma (Frisvold) Mahlum in Fertile, Minnesota. She was raised in Fertile until her family moved to Detroit Lakes, where Donna graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1945. Donna worked at Swift Turkey Plant, where she met the love of her life, Willard Larsen. They were married on July 5, 1950 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She later worked at Bergen's Greenhouse for thirteen years as a Mum grower until returning to Swift Turkey Plant to work in the hatchery, where she retired. Donna was a woman of strong faith and shared her faith with her family. She enjoyed fishing, music and her pets, especially her dog Charlie. Donna took pride in taking care of her home, whether it was mowing the lawn or tending to her flowers. Donna is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie (Rick) Plante of Spooner, WI; Vicki (Ron) Bjorklund of Detroit Lakes, MN; son, W. David (Jo) Larsen of Dayton, MN; six grandchildren, Ryan (Sue) Bjorklund, Tricia Bjorklund, Lucas (Ashley) Boie, Jacob Boie, Nick (fiancé, Amy Nikodym) Larsen, Sara Larsen; six great grandchildren, Ethan, Tallulah, Scarlet, Katelyn, Bode and Veda; one sister, Edwina (Harold) Gebeke of Detroit Lakes, MN; two brothers, Wally (Colleen) Mahlum of Glyndon, MN; Virgil (Patricia) Mahlum of Detroit Lakes, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Willard (1994), sister, Gloria Hagen and her special dog, Charlie.
