Mary Hockman, 83 of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died on Thursday, September 04, 2014 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Mary was born on September 19, 1930 the daughter of James T. and Katherine (Lane) Walter in Hobart, Indiana. She was raised and educated in Hobart and graduated from Hobart High School. Mary also attended college for a couple of years to further her education. She was united in marriage to James Thomas "Tom" Hockman on August 25, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas. They made their home in Colorado Springs for many years. Mary and Tom spent many wonderful summers with family and friends in Detroit Lakes, operating the campground which they owned, Lake Lind Campground during the summer months. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 2003. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved collecting antiques. Mary is survived by her husband, James Thomas "Tom" Hockman of Detroit Lakes, MN; daughter, Marnie (Jim) Ammons-Shoemaker of Detroit Lakes, MN; three sons, Thomas (Vickie) Hockman of Colorado Springs, CO; Steven (Nancy) Hockman of Yelm, WA; Mark (Cathy) Hockman of Kingwood, TX; nine grandchildren, Nicole (Josh) Haugen, Jessica and Julie Ammons, John, Jenny, Josh, Meghan, Brennan and Britta Hockman; great-grandson, Jude Haugen; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, James and five siblings.
