Margaret Louise McEvers, 83, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Monday, October 6, 2014 at Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Marge was born on August 5, 1931, the daughter of Willie and Margaret (Snider) Nelson in Lubbock, Texas. She was raised in Lubbock, graduating from McKenzie High School in 1948. Marge then received a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics from Texas Tech University in 1952. After college she began working for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Salt Lake City, Utah. Marge was united in marriage to Homer "Mac" McEvers on June 25, 1966 in Salt Lake City. They lived in various states eventually settling in Bismarck, North Dakota for an extended period of time and later retiring in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota in 1995. Marge enjoyed collecting spoons from various states and was an avid sports fan, especially for the Green Bay Packers and the LA Dodgers. Her true passions in life were playing beautiful music on her piano and spending time with her family. Marge is survived by her husband, Homer "Mac" McEvers of Detroit Lakes, MN; children, Karen (Alan) Burraston of Delta, UT; Melissa (Ryan) Conley of Detroit Lakes, MN; Steve (Stacy) Noland of Moneta, VA; Monica (Scott) Dolsay of Moorhead, MN; fifteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, James, Alan and Joe Nelson, sister, Willena Dupree. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church (885 Pembina Trail, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501 or Oak Crossing Family Council (1040 Lincoln Ave. Detroit Lakes, MN 56501).
