Marlys Adell Hedlund

Marlys A. Hedlund age 82 of Detroit Lakes, MN died October 21, 2014 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Marlys Adell Hedlund was born on July 30, 1932 in rural Detroit Lakes, MN to Albert and Ella Fingalson Erickson. She grew up and attended Country School in rural Detroit Lakes, MN. On March 31, 1949 she was united in marriage to Clarence Hedlund in Detroit Lakes. They lived and farmed near Nashua, MN and Detroit Lakes, MN for a short time before purchasing a farm in the Evergreen area of rural Frazee, MN. They farmed there for many years before moving back to farm near Detroit Lakes in 1988. Marlys was a former member of the Evergreen Homemaker's Group. She was also a member of WELCA at Bakke Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, dancing, and old time music. She also enjoyed playing the piano. She is survived by her husband, Clarence; one son, Harold (Cheryl) Hedlund, of Callaway, MN; three daughters, Zona Paesler, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Kitty (Jim) Ueke, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Cindy Nelson, of Park Rapids, MN; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Janice Johnson; one granddaughter, Wendy Johnson; three brothers, Norris, Merlin, and Earl Erickson; and one sister, Alyce Dovre.
