Raymond B. Kaatz age 94 of Detroit Lakes, MN formerly of Audubon, MN died October 25, 2014 at Essentia Health - Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN. Raymond Bernie Kaatz was born on August 3, 1920 in rural Audubon, MN to Ernest and Maggie Hall Kaatz. He grew up and attended District 9 Country School in Hamden Township of rural Audubon, MN. He helped his Father on the family farm. On February 26, 1941 he was united in marriage to Clarissa Harpster in Audubon, MN. They lived on the family farm until moving into Audubon in 1946. Raymond worked for the Railroad for a short time before starting a long career in road construction, retiring from Driveway Services in Detroit Lakes. Raymond enjoyed gardening, maple syruping, and playing baseball as a youngster. He loved horses, working with them on the farm as a young man, and also riding them for pleasure. He was a member of the Cormorant Sportsman's Club. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church and was proud of the fact the he could list all the books of the Bible in order. He also served as a church elder. He is survived by one son, Gary (Gayle) Kaatz, of Audubon, MN; one daughter, Vicki (Harold) Trimmer, of Fargo, ND; five grandchildren, Todd (Marla) Branden; Tamara (Al) Pesola; Jennifer Kaatz; Tyrone (Shanteres) Trimmer; and Trisha Trimmer; seven great grandchildren, Branden, Calven, Nate, Victoria, Kailey, Alison, and Zachary; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarissa; one daughter, Patricia Branden; son in law, Marlyn Branden; two brothers, Vernon and Alby; five sisters, Viola, Margaret, Orlene, Evelyn, and Delores; and his parents.
