Mildred Boock, 94, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died Friday, November 7, 2014 at Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Mildred was born Jessie Mildred Halvorson on January 7, 1920, the daughter of John and Mable (Speten) Halvorson in Callaway, Minnesota. She attended country school near Tamarac Lake and Ponsford, Minnesota, through the 8th grade. For the next eight years, Mildred worked for various grocery stores around the area. She was united in marriage to Roy Boock on September 24, 1943 in Detroit Lakes. After the birth of their children, Mildred stayed at home to raise her family and also helped with the daily chores on the farm. Mildred was a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital for many years and was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and crocheting. Mildred cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mildred is survived by her two sons, LeRoy (Connie) Boock of Ponsford, MN; Thomas (Jill) Boock of Detroit Lakes, MN; one daughter, Pamela (Tim) Kivi of Ponsford, MN; eight grandchildren; Daniel ( Matina )Boock, Michele ( John ) Mattila, Jennifer Fox, Kristen ( Shane ) Frank, Megan Kivi, Heather (Brian McDonald )Kivi, Christopher Boock, Leah ( Kraig Bittner) Boock; twelve great-grandchildren, Samantha, Benjamin, Emilee and Nicholas Boock, Cody and Dylan Fox, Tyler Koopmeiners, Hunter and Garret Frank, Claire and Cael McDonald, Millie Boock-Bittner ; one brother, Walter Halvorson of Perham, MN; two sisters, Irene (James) Mack of Sebeka, MN; Shirley Sandberg of Rochert, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy; granddaughter, Sarah Boock, two brothers and four sisters.
