Scott A. Frey, 50, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Essentia Health, Fargo, North Dakota surrounded by his family. Scott was born March 14, 1964, the son of Duane and Lillian (Stoderl) Frey in Westminster, California. He was raised and educated in Frazee, Minnesota. As a teenager he worked for Frey's Silo Repair. Scott was united in marriage to Carlee Carlson on February 23, 1985 in Audubon, Minnesota. As a young man, Scott started his career at Herzog Roofing Inc. and worked there for 33 years. He took pride in his work and was known for his skills in the roofing industry. Scott worked at Herzog Roofing Inc. as a Roofing Foreman until the time of his death. Scott and Carlee made their home in rural Detroit Lakes, where they were able to enjoy their love of the outdoors together. They restored, Scott's 1929 Model A together and also enjoyed long drives through the countryside. They raised their two sons, Brian and Johnny, of which they were both very proud. Scott's love of the outdoors also included hunting and fishing. He built a saw mill from scratch and loved to spend hours cutting logs into lumber. Scott will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Scott is survived by his two sons, Brian (Rachel Bjork) Frey of Parkers Prairie, MN, Johnny (Emily Hanson) Frey of Frazee, MN; mother, Lil Frey of Ogema, MN; father, Duane Frey; two sisters, Wendy Mehr of Ada, MN; Cindy (Gary Foster) Frey of Ogema, MN; brother, Shaun (Vanessa) Frey of Frazee, MN; six sisters -in-law, JoLeen (Dale) Kruger, Osage, MN; Deanna Noel, Frazee, MN; Connie (Ron) Baumgart, Colorado Springs, CO; Sheri (Doug) Leitheiser, Rochert, MN; Cari (Mike) Evavold, Dalton, MN; and Cally (Darby) Nundahl, Frazee, MN; five brothers-in-law, Lynnae (Robin) Guhlke, Lake Crystal, MN; Myron (Judy) Guhlke, Osakis, MN; Jay Guhlke, Colorado Springs, CO; Scott (Pam) Guhlke, Moorhead, MN; and Lee (Kristina) Carlson, Detroit Lakes, MN; step brother-in-law, Walter Wallace; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Scott was preceded in death by his wife Carlee (Oct. 12, 2014), grandparents, and great nephew, Jamison Brown.
