Marjorie Lois Spaeth

Marjorie L. Spaeth age 77 of Frazee, MN formerly of Waubun, MN, died peacefully November 23, 2014 at the Frazee Care Center in Frazee, MN. Marjorie Lois Spaeth was born December 8, 1936 in Volga, South Dakota to Theodore and Nellie Mulder Knutson. She grew up and attended school there before moving to Seattle, Washington in 1951, where she completed her education at Franklin Roosevelt High School. In 1967 she moved to rural Waubun, MN. In 1973 she attended the Ritter's Beauty School in Moorhead, MN and operated a Beauty Shop out of her home for many years. On Dec. 7, 1974 she was united in marriage to the love of her life Dennis Spaeth at the Lake Grove Lutheran Church, near Waubun. Marjorie was very musical, she taught herself to play the piano, guitar, and accordion, and also had a beautiful voice. She played in a band that entertained at various venues in the area. She was also a talented artist, who enjoyed drawing and painting. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, crafts, cooking, sewing, jig saw puzzles, and attending auction sales with Dennis. Her spirituality and her family were a very important part of her life. She is survived by one son, Scott (Barbara) Ley, of Ronald, WA; four daughters, Kim (Kenny) Benson, of Waubun, MN; Kerrie (Dan) Maxfield, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Kristy Olson, of Thief River Falls, MN; and Kelly Hall, of Waubun, MN; thirteen grandchildren, Nicholas Ley, Kristofer Ley, Jesse (Kristal) Benson, Jennifer (Jon) Syverson, Casey Virden, Bobbi (Aaron) Pinske, Marjorie (Mike) Berg, Danielle Maxfield, Georgette Maxfield, Cody Charpentier, Christine (Kyle) Bjerke, Cassidy Olson, and Miranda (Dustin) Anderson; twenty-four great grandchildren; three brothers, Roland (Wilda) Knutson, of Claremont, CA; Milford (Ellen) Knutson, of Auburn, WA; and Roger (Carol) Knutson, of Chehalis, WA; and one sister, Donna Torkelson, of Poulsbo, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis (2003); her parents; and brother in law, Dean Torkelson.
