Richard "Dick" James Deike

Richard "Dick" Deike went to a better place on Saturday, December 6, 2014. Dick was born on June 26, 1939 to Albert and Bessie (Riebhoff) in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He lived most of his life in Detroit Lakes, where Dick graduated from high school in 1957. He went on to work for National Foods in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and later attended college there for a degree in Forestry. Following graduation he began his career in Orr, Minnesota and later moved to Michigan to work for Kimberly Clark. Dick then returned home to Detroit Lakes to work at the Tamarac Refuge. He later left the Tamarac Refuge to help start the Fish & Wildlife Service in Detroit Lakes. Dick and Jane were married on September 13, 1993. Dick retired from the Fish and Wildlife Service in 1997. Following his retirement, in the summer he worked for the City of Detroit Lakes in the Parks Department until he retired due to health reasons. Dick enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, his horses, and buckskinning with his family and friends. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Jane; daughters, Tammi (Todd) Johnson of Thief River Falls, MN; Pam (Kenny) Holgate of Wolf Lake, MN; son, Scott Ullery of Osage, MN; grandchildren; great grandchildren; brothers, Earl Deike of Fortuna, CA; Charlie (Velda) Deike of Detroit Lakes, MN; sister, Kathy (Bob) Goodloe of Brooklyn Park, MN; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews all of whom he really enjoyed. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lois and Norris Phares, his brother, Bob Deike and sister-in-law, Evelyn Deike.
