Kathryn A. Walz age 95 of Detroit Lakes, MN died January 23, 2015 at Essentia Health - Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN. Kathryn Ann Walz was born on August 8,1919 in Perham, MN to Frank and Mary Hoffman Fasching. She grew up and attended Country School in rural Perham, MN. On June 21, 1936 she was united in marriage to Norman J. Walz. They made their home and raised their family in Detroit Lakes. They owned and operated a gas station and bulk fuel business on the north side of Detroit Lakes, where Kay was the bookkeeper. Kay was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She was very active at Holy Rosary Church and also did volunteer work at St. Mary's Hospital. Kay was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by four daughters, Margaret (Don) Wallace, of Frazee, MN; Mary Kay (Vern) Isaacson, of Pelican Rapids, MN; Louise Borstad, of Albertville, MN; and Pauline (John) Morris, of Fountain Hills, AZ; three sons, Frank (Alice) Walz, of Andover, MN; Tom (Betty) Walz, of Forest Lake, MN; and William (Cindi) Walz, of Eden Prairie, MN; nineteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman (1984); infant son, John; five sisters, Fannie, Rose, Mayme, Sue, and Ellie; and her parents.
