Roger J. Engstrom age 69 of Detroit Lakes, MN died February 13, 2015 at Ecumen - Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Roger J. Engstrom was born November 30, 1945 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Frederick and Olga Madson Engstrom. He attended District 57 Rochert Country School, and later attended Detroit Lakes High School where he graduated in 1963. Following High School he attended the Staples Vocational and Technical College, and lived and worked on a farm near Staples. He then returned to the family dairy farm where he farmed and lived his entire life. Roger was a member of the Becker County Fair Board, American Dairy Association and WMSTR Association. He researched and hosted programs for the TV3 Museum Road Show. Roger enjoyed helping the Becker County Museum with many of their projects and he also served on the Lund Church Council. Roger and Debra were extremely proud of receiving the Century Farm Award, Valley Farmer and Homemaker Award. Roger enjoyed selling the Becker County Fair buttons, playing dominos and cards. He loved visiting with everyone he met and was a great historian of Becker County. Roger is survived by his wife, Debra; mother in law, Ramona Ulschmid, of Frazee, MN; sister in law, DeeAnn (Glen) Schaefer, of Park Rapids, MN; four brothers in law, Joel (Julie) Ulschmid, of Henry, SD; Jeffrey (Diane) Ulschmid, of Glyndon, MN; Loran (Lena) Ulschmid, of Lacey, WA; Larry (Linda) Ulschmid, of Silverdale, WA; and Dwight Lundgren, of Perham, MN; fifteen Nieces and nephews; nine great nieces and nephews; and several cousins. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don Engstrom and Gary Engstrom; sister in law, Susan Lundgren; and father in law, George Ulschmid Jr.
