Floy M. Nansen age 80 of Detroit Lakes, MN died February 28, 2015 at her residence. Floy Marlene Nansen was born on December 31, 1934 in Rosalie, Nebraska to Frank and Antonio Samson. She grew up and received her education in that area. She was married to Gene Metschke on April 2, 1954. They lived and raised their children in Fremont, Nebraska. Floy worked as a bank teller and she and her husband owned and operated a dry cleaning business in Fremont. They retired and lived in Colorado and Mesa, Arizona. Gene died in 2001. Floy later met and married Glen Nansen on Feb. 11, 2005 in Mesa, Arizona. They spent winters in Arizona and summers in Detroit Lakes. Floy was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed watching different sports on television, especially Nebraska Cornhusker football. She was very meticulous about her appearance and enjoyed nice clothing. She is survived by her husband, Glen; one son, Bryan (Francie) Metschke, of Avon, Indiana; three step sons, Mark Nansen, of Perham, MN; Gary (Darcy) Nansen, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Paul Nansen, of Detroit Lakes, MN; two step daughters, Julie (Guy) Astell, of Savage, MN; and Sheryl (Rick) Menden, of Winsted, MN; two grandsons, Andrew and Alex Metschke; nine step grandchildren; and close family friend Lynn Matthews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gene Metschke (2001); one son, Rodney Metschke; five sisters; and her parents.
