Harvey C. Valley, 84, Detroit Lakes, MN formerly of Fullerton, California died Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Sanford Health, Fargo, North Dakota. Harvey was born on July 7, 1930 the son of Harvey and Florence (Weaver) Valley in Wilmar, California. He was raised in South Gate, California and graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's Degree in History. Harvey enlisted in the United States Navy. After attending Officers Candidate School he served in the Philippines. He recieved an honorable discharge and returned home to take over the family business. Harvey was united in marriage to Georgia Oien on October 3, 1959 at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They made their home in California, where Harvey owned and operated VP Sales Company. He turned the company into a small corporation - a foreign and domestic auto parts warehouse. Harvey retired as the president of VP Sales Company in 2011. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 2013 to be closer to their daughter. Harvey enjoyed traveling and dining out with his wife, Georgia. They were able to travel to six of the seven continents. Harvey was active in two communities, the business community where he was president of both the Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. In Fullerton he supported the cultural arts and the hospital. He was a member of the El Bekal Shrine and enjoyed supporting their many projects. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to American Cancer Society (PO Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718), Shriners Hospital for Children (2900 Rock Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607) or donor's choice. Harvey is survived by his wife, Georgia Valley of Detroit Lakes, MN; daughter Kim (John) Green of Detroit Lakes, MN; two grandsons, Will and Jake Green; sister, Beverly Ports of Durango, CO; niece, Heidi (Ports) Goodman and nephew, David Ports. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Lori (Valley) Harp.
