Ruth Irene Branby

Ruth I. Branby age 91 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Sunday May 24, 2015 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Ruth Irene Branby was born February 16, 1924 in Villard, MN to Emil and Ottlie Fischer. She grew up and attended school in Villard, graduating from Villard High School. She worked as a nursing aid at the hospital in Glenwood, MN. On August 31, 1946 she was united in marriage to Manferd Branby in Shakopee, MN. They made their home in Glenwood. Ruth worked in direct sales for the Minnesota Woolen Company. They moved to Detroit Lakes, MN in 1961 where she continued her work in sales. She later worked at the Voyageur Lanes in Detroit Lakes for over twenty years. Ruth was a very creative person. She enjoyed crafts, upholstery, and cake baking and decorating. She was also an avid bowler, golfer, and reader. She loved being with her family and friends, and was a very gracious host, welcoming everyone into her home. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, and was an active member of the Altar Guild. She is survived by one daughter, Kathy (Bruce) Tillisch, of Marco Island, FL; one son, Larry (Lisa) Branby, of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Eleanor Fuhrman, of Chokio, MN; one daughter in law, Nancy Branby, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manferd O. Branby (1999); one son, Tom Branby; five sisters; seven brothers; and her parents.
