Carla Shirley Forsythe

Carla S. Forsythe age 76 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Friday June 5, 2015 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. Carla Shirley Forsythe was born February 3, 1939 in rural Ulen, MN to Selmer and Cora (Morken) Syverson. She grew up and attended Country School near the family farm. She later graduated from Ulen High School. Following high school she worked at the Dakota National Bank in Fargo, ND. On October 8, 1960 she was united in marriage to Larry Forsythe at the Atlanta Lutheran Church near Ulen, MN. They made their home in Moorhead, MN, where Carla worked at the 1st National Bank of Moorhead. Over the next few years they lived in Roseau, Mahnomen, and Detroit Lakes, MN, before moving to Ada, MN in 1969. They raised their family and Carla worked for the First State Bank of Ada. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1983 where Carla worked for the First National Bank and later Wells Fargo Bank. Carla enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, sewing, painting, golfing and bowling. She is survived by her husband, Larry; one daughter, DeAnne (Mitchell Downs) Forsythe-Downs, of Colorado Springs, CO; one son, Kent (Leslie) Forsythe, of Henderson, NV; three grandsons, Spencer Downs, Conner Downs, and Parker Downs; three sisters, Vivian Beske, of Faribault, MN; Orrine (Lowell) Ellefson, of Twin Valley, MN; and Fern (Jim) Saatoff, of Deer River, MN; three brothers, Marlyn Syverson, of Twin Valley, MN; Waldo (Diane) Syverson, of Hitterdal, MN; and Allen (Alice) Syverson, of Kenyon, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Christella Townsend and Eileen Cary; and two brothers, Lyle Syverson and Oren Syverson.
