Patrick T. Johnston, 52, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died Friday, June 5, 2015 at St. Mary's-Essentia Health, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Pat was born on October 10, 1962, the son of Harry and Phyllis (Frederickson) Johnston in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He was raised and educated in Detroit Lakes, graduating in 1981. After high school, Pat played two years of junior hockey for the Austin Mavericks and the Waterloo Blackhawks. He then attended Bemidji State University, receiving a degree in Criminal Justice. After receiving his degree, Pat started his career with the Becker County Sheriff's Department. Pat was united in marriage to Lindy Altrichter on May 12, 2001 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He continued his career with the sheriff's department, working in the DEA, West Central Minnesota Drug Task Force and the Becker County Dive Rescue Team. Pat retired in June of 2014. Pat enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, ice fishing, camping, shoveling, mowing his lawn and keeping his garage clean. His true passions in life were his family and his children. Pat is survived by his wife, Lindy Johnston of Detroit Lakes, MN; his children, Angela (Jaret) Crissinger, Logan and Brea Johnston all of Detroit Lakes, MN; parents, Harry and Phyllis Johnston of Detroit Lakes, MN; siblings, Michael (Kim) Johnston of Billings, MT; Joy (Brent Kaiser) Ballard of Detroit Lakes, MN; Julie Johnston of Detroit Lakes, MN; Timothy (Joni) Johnston of Colorado Springs, CO; Joni (Tom) Pace of Detroit Lakes, MN; brother-in-law, Jeff Altrichter of Winsted, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by his grandparents.
