Gary Lee Bakken

Gary L. Bakken age 62 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Saturday July 25, 2015 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. Gary Lee Bakken was born September 21, 1952 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Reier and Charlotte Pojar Bakken. He grew up and attended country school in Richwood Township before finishing his education in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1970. He farmed his entire life in Richwood Township. Gary was known as a good hearted, soft spoken man who was very content with life on the farm. He enjoyed watching his nieces, nephew, and great nephew grow up and come to the farm. Gary was an excellent mechanic. Whatever needed fixing he always knew how or could figure it out. He also enjoyed guns, reloading and shooting. Gary was blessed to have many friends and neighbors. He always enjoyed visiting with them and very much appreciated their help throughout the years. He is survived by his mother, Charlotte Bakken, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one brother, Rick Bakken, of Callaway, MN; three sisters, Yvonne (Mike Ahles) Bakken, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Pam (John) Gobel, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Sandra St, Cyr, of Plummer, MN; two nieces, Meghan (Chance Buetow) Gobel, of Duluth, MN; and Courtney (Jared Swiers) Gobel, of Callaway, MN; one nephew, Sam(Donna Wicker) Gobel, of Bemidji, MN; and one great nephew, Oakley Swiers. He was preceded in death by his father Bud Bakken; and brother in law, Mark St, Cyr.
