Howard Frank Weiler

Howard F. Weiler age 83 of Detroit Lakes, MN died December 26, 2015 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Howard Frank Weiler was born February 4, 1932 in Kulm, North Dakota to Gottfried and Anna Marie (Siegler)  Weiler. He grew up and attended Country School near the family farm in rural Kulm. As a young man he farmed with his father. On October 16, 1955 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Buerkley in Kulm, North Dakota. They made their home in Fargo, North Dakota and later in Moorhead, MN. In those years Howard worked installing furnaces . He also had a milk delivery route, and later worked for Beverage Wholesalers. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1966 where Howard worked for Jim Beaton Sales and later for Miracle Ear Hearing Aids. Howard enjoyed fishing, gardening and yard work. He loved time spent at the lake cabin with family and friends. He also enjoyed tinkering and could fix about anything. He had the gift to gab, and could talk to anyone. He and Marilyn enjoyed traveling together. They made it to all fifty states and many other countries. He is survived by his wife Marilyn; one son, Jim (Judy) Weiler, of Chisago City, MN; one daughter, Peg (Randy) West, of Stillwater, MN; six grandchildren, Jenna, Lauren, and Evan Weiler; Tyler (Melissa) Woodward, Michael (Laura) Woodward, and Robert Woodward; one great grandson, Alexander Woodward; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Howie Weiler; one sister Agnes Rost; an infant twin brother, Glen Weiler; and his parents.
